WWII Tours by Alpventures - Your Guide for World War II Tours to Europe

Introducing Alpventures Britain at War! Tour

Our inaugural "Britain at War! Tour" is currently underway! We are just about to wrap up the first Tour, which has run very well. We started with three days in London, where we enjoyed a World War II Tour of the city in an authentic, wartime DUKW (ambhibious vehicle), as well as visits to HMS Belfast (a D-Day Cruiser), the world-class Imperial War Museum, RAF Museum at Hendon, and the impressive Churchill Cabinet War Rooms. We continued with two nights in Cambridge, where we spent a full day at IWM Duxford (one of the best aircraft museums in the world) and the Cambridge American Cemetery - the final resting place of a fraction of some 30,000 American airmen killed during WWII. We also spent a day at Bletchley Park, home of British and American codebreakers during the war.

A highlight of the Tour is our Guided Tour of the Battle of Britain Bunker,  located at the former base RAF Uxbridge. The bunker was used as the Operations Room No. 11 Group; controlling the skies and dispatching aircraft over London and southeast England during the Battle of Britain. The volunteer staff there could not have been more helpful or informative. Our next stop was Dover, where we visited the Kent Battle of Britain Museum as well as Dover Castle and the Secret Wartime Tunnels deep beneath the historic fortress. Next, we continued to Portsmouth for some D-Day sites and we are finishing off the Tour at The Tank Museum in Bovington / Dorset - among the best armor museums in the world.

We will be setting up 2020 dates for our next "Britain at War! Tour" very soon - get more information and view Tour photos at our website, worldwar2tours.com
