Back by popular demand! We're bringing back the Todt Battery to our Normandy to the Eagle's Nest Tour, after a seven year hiatus. Originally, we swapped out the site for the impressive underground V2 bunker near Saint Omer, "La Couple". We are still keeping that site in the Tour; we're just adding the Todt Battery back into the Itinerary. The Todt Battery is a former German heavy artillery battery located on the coast of France near Calais. Intended to assist the Third Reich in its plan to invade England (Operation Sea Lion), it was never used for that purpose as Hitler lost the Battle of Britain and never carried out the invasion. Today, it is an Atlantic Wall Museum containing a great collection of uniforms, weapons, and equipment - in addition to an original Krupp K5 rail-mounted artillery gun; one of only two known in the world!
We include a visit to the impressive Todt Battery on Alpventures Normandy to the Eagle's Nest Tour - offered every May and September. The Tour includes tons of sites at the D-Day Landing Beaches in Normandy, France; the V2 rocket bunker near St. Omer (La Couple), Battle of the Bulge sites in the Belgian Ardennes, and Third Reich sites throughout Bavaria, Germany. We finish the Tour at Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps; where we also visit Hitler's infamous Eagle's Nest.
